Submission Guidelines & Information

Papers submitted to ZML must be articles of high mathematical quality in any area of mathematical logic.  Excellent expository and survey articles will be considered by the editorial board if they are of wide interest.  Please contact the editorial board at editorialoffice@zml.international if you are considering to submit a survey or expository article for an informal discussion.

ZML will only consider submissions that are not under review,  accepted,  or published in any other academic publication such as another journal,  a book,  or published conference proceedings.  The editors consider simultaneous submission to two academic publication venues as academic misconduct.  (Pre-publication on a pre-print server or on the author's website does not count as a publication for this purpose.)

Submissions must be authored by human authors and the authors cannot be anonymous.  If AI tools have been used during the writing or research of the manuscript,  this must be declared in the acknowledgments and the extent of its use should be fully clarified.

All authors of the submission must approve and be aware of the fact that it is submitted to ZML

Usually,  we expect submissions to be in English.  If a proper refereeing and editorial process can be guaranteed for a submission in another language,  the editors can consider such a submission.  Please contact the editorial board at editorialoffice@zml.international if you are considering to submit a paper in any other language than English for an informal discussion.

All authors are required to declare all institutional affiliations and to mention all funding sources relevant for the research as well as the writing of the submission in the acknowledgments.

Submission process

ZML uses the submission system EditFlow that was designed by mathematicians for mathematicians.  In order to be considered,  a paper has to be submitted as a PDF file via EditFlow.  Note that EditFlow does not require authors to register an account.  Instead,  EditFlow e-mails have links that allow authors to visit the relevant webpage containing the information pertaining to their submission.  This means that it is important to keep the automated e-mails that EditFlow sends you in order to access your submission and its status.

All researchers in mathematical logic are cordially invited to submit their high quality papers via EditFlow

The PDF file of the original submission (before peer review) does not yet have to be in ZML style (see below).

Peer review

All manuscripts will be assessed by our editors and may be peer reviewed by one or more anonymous referees.  The decision as to whether the article is accepted or rejected is made by the editorial board.

Editors who have a conflict of interests in the case of a submission will not be involved in decisions about the manuscript.

After acceptance

After a manuscript has been accepted for publication,  we expect that the authors submit the source code of their manuscript typeset in LaTeX using the following template:

In case of technical difficulties with the template or class file,  please contact the editorial assistant at editorialoffice@zml.international

In the spirit of true open access,  all papers are published under the Creative Commons license CC BY 4.0 International.  After a paper is accepted,  the authors are expected to sign the following license declaration:

Please make sure (preferably before submission) that you have the needed permissions to sign this declaration.  This requires consent of all copyright holders:  usually,  these are the authors of the paper,  but this may be different for your particular situation (depending on funding or employment agreements).
